BYD SHARK Launched in Peru The Market’s First Plug-in Hybrid 4x4 Pickup

Lima, Peru, May 29, 2025 – In an exclusive event held in the “La Chutana” off-road area, Motorysa, BYD’s official representative in Peru, presented the new BYD Shark, the brand’s plug-in hybrid pickup truck, which combines advanced technology, exceptional performance and robust design, developed to overcome the country’s most demanding geographical conditions.

Off-road power, Technology and Sustainability

This new model has been designed using BYD's DMO technology platform, which enables spectacular performance on all types of terrain while maintaining the efficiency and dynamism of electric mobility with capabilities superior to any combustion-powered alternative.

BYD Shark Test Drive

It has three engines: two electric motors, one on each axle, delivering 429 HP with an all-terrain 4WD system, and a 1.5-liter turbo combustion engine that assists the electric powertrain in series or parallel mode.

Thanks to this technology and engine, the new BYD Shark accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds and a combined range of up to 840 km, or up to 100 km in 100% electric mode under the NEDC standard.

Safety and Work Capacity

For safety, the BYD SHARK includes six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that include adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, collision warning, and a lane-keeping system. It also includes a 540° panoramic camera, a 360° parking camera, an NFC digital key, and remote functions from the BYD app.

The payload capacity is 835 kg and it is capable of towing up to 2,500 kg, placing it within the typical range for mixed-use midsize pickup trucks.
