The BYD SEAL is one of seven contenders to win the prestigious European Car of the Year 2024 award. BYD’s all-new sports sedan, which has recently gone on sale in Europe, has been so well received by the jury of the election, that it has been nominated for the final. The winner will be announced on February 26, 2024 at the Geneva Motor Show.
BYD strongly represented
For the 2024 edition of the annual Car of the Year competition – widely considered as the most valuable automotive award in Europe – a total of 28 cars were carefully selected and extensively assessed by an expert jury of 59 automotive journalists from 22 countries.
The fact that the international jury is impressed by BYD's products is evident from the fact that no fewer than four of the 28 selected cars bear the BYD logo – the BYD SEAL, BYD DOLPHIN, BYD ATTO 3 and BYD HAN. That’s the highest number of the same brand of all selected participants for the Car of the Year 2024 election.
After all cars were tested and assessed by all jury members on matters like value for money, design, comfort, safety, technology and environmental performance, seven cars were selected for the final, as always. And the BYD SEAL is one of those!
Exciting final ahead
In the final, the highly appreciated BYD SEAL will compete against the BMW 5 Series, Kia EV9, Peugeot 3008, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR and Volvo EX30. The winner of the European Car of the Year 2024 election will be announced on February 26, 2024 at the Geneva Motor Show. Each jury member must then divide 25 points over at least five models, with a maximum of ten points being awarded to one car.
It will be a very exciting final! But the fact that the BYD SEAL has been nominated for the finals is an achievement in itself. And even more, because BYD is a new player on the European car market and just started its sales activities on the continent in 2022.
