In just nine months, BYD's largest industrial complex outside Asia reaches 100,000 locally produced electrified vehicles and 5,500 direct Brazilian employees.
Camaçari, Bahia, Brazil – July 16, 2026– Every vehicle that reaches the road begins its journey on a production line built and operated by hundreds of dedicated people working together to shape the future of Brazil's automotive industry.
Today, that journey reached two major milestones in Camaçari, Bahia. Just nine months after the official inauguration of the first phase of its industrial complex in October 2025, BYD has celebrated the production of its 100,000th electrified vehicle in Brazil while expanding its workforce to 5,500 direct employees at the plant.
These achievements reflect the remarkable pace of an operation designed to position Bahia as one of the world's leading hubs for the next generation of automotive manufacturing. More importantly, they represent a story that extends well beyond the production line—a story of thousands of Brazilian professionals who have found new career opportunities and are helping shape the future of sustainable mobility in the country.
The celebration, held at the Final Assembly Shop of the Camaçari complex, was attended by BYD Brazil's leadership team, the executives responsible for the factory's operations, and government authorities, including Camaçari Mayor Luiz Caetano and Bahia Vice Governor Geraldo Júnior.
The BYD Dolphin Mini, Brazil's best-selling battery electric vehicle in the retail market for five consecutive months, became the 100,000th vehicle to roll off the production line at the Camaçari factory. More than 35,000 Dolphin Mini units have been sold in Brazil so far this year.
The Dolphin Mini is produced alongside two other models currently manufactured at the plant: the BYD King sedan and the BYD Song Pro SUV.
The factory's rapid growth is also reflected in the expansion of its workforce. BYD reached its first 1,000 direct employees just 60 days after operations began. Six months later, that figure had tripled to 3,000 employees. Today, only 250 days after the plant's official inauguration, the complex employs 5,500 people.
Currently, 86% of the workforce comes from the state of Bahia, while 52% are residents of Camaçari, highlighting the company's commitment to local employment and talent development.
Among the thousands of employees who have joined BYD's journey in Camaçari is Ednei dos Santos Silva, a newly hired production operator in the welding shop and the factory's 5,500th employee.
His story reflects the experience of many Brazilians whose lives have been transformed by the arrival of BYD. As the company expands its manufacturing footprint in Bahia, it is also creating new opportunities for local communities and contributing to the revival of one of Brazil's most important industrial regions.
"I was unemployed and going through a very uncertain period, just like many other people in Camaçari," said Ednei. "For a long time, the local industrial sector had lost momentum, and many people no longer believed that new opportunities would emerge here. BYD has changed that reality, bringing back hope—the hope of finding a job, growing professionally, and planning for the future."

100,000 Vehicles Represent the Dedication of Thousands of People
According to Alexandre Baldy, Senior Vice President of BYD Brazil and
Head of Marketing and Commercial at BYD Auto, the two milestones are the result of the commitment of the people behind the operation and the trust placed in the brand by Brazilian consumers.

A New Chapter for Camaçari
BYD's industrial complex in Bahia—the company's largest manufacturing facility outside Asia—is the result of an R$5.5 billion investment and represents a long-term commitment to Brazil.
The milestones achieved so far mark only the beginning of the project's development. During the second half of 2026, the complex will begin operating its new stamping, welding, and painting facilities, further increasing the localization of vehicle production and ushering in the next phase of manufacturing operations.
Once fully operational, the Camaçari complex is expected to support the creation of 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, reinforcing its role as one of Brazil's most important automotive manufacturing hubs.

Located in Camaçari, Bahia, BYD's manufacturing complex covers 4.65 million square meters—an area equivalent to approximately 645 football fields—making it the company's largest industrial complex outside China.
