BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of new-energy vehicles, and Mediawan, the leading independent and multi-award-winning European studio, announce an unprecedented agreement set to support European and international creativity.
Driven by shared values of innovation, sustainability, and global openness, BYD and Mediawan are combining their expertise to facilitate the funding and development of premium content.
This strategic partnership will encompass several key aspects.
First, the two companies will develop collaborations that integrate the BYD brand in various ways across Mediawan Group productions. This includes featuring BYD vehicles in upcoming flagship projects, such as the recently announced “Miraculous®” theatrical feature film for the globally loved franchise.
Second, they will establish a joint “Build Your Dreams” Award, celebrating the best emerging creative and young talents over the next three years on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. Each year, the winner will receive a €40,000 grant as part of the award.
Finally, the partnership will include the development of original formats inspired by the BYD brand. Notably, Ladybug, the popular superheroine from the internationally successful French series “Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir” will introduce a special episode of the Miraculous Chibi series, to be released on YouTube.
"This partnership with Mediawan marks a new chapter in BYD’s mission to connect innovation with inspiration. At BYD, we believe technology and creativity share the same purpose: to imagine a better world. By joining forces with one of Europe’s most visionary studios, we’re not just supporting the arts—we’re empowering the next generation of storytellers to dream beyond boundaries and share meaningful stories that move the world", said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD.
"We are thrilled about this partnership with BYD that perfectly embodies our ambitions, to champion creative excellence and global growth, especially through the creation of strategic alliances that bring together creativity, innovation, and international vision. In today’s landscape—where demand for content is booming across every platform —increasingly involving brands as partners in our productions is becoming essential as it allows us to innovate at scale and invest in ambitious projects both locally and internationally", Pierre-Antoine Capton, Chairman and co-founder of Mediawan Group.
