With a nomination in the final of the ’2024 Car of the Year’ competition and the win of the major automotive award ‘2024 Best Buy Car of Europe’, the BYD SEAL and BYD DOLPHIN are undoubtedly popular with the European audience. But that also applies to the rest of the world, as BYD has made it to the finals of the World Car Awards with both models!
One of the world’s most valuable automotive awards
The World Car Awards is an annual election of the best cars in the world. All nominated cars are thoroughly tested and judged by a jury of more than a hundred (!) leading international automotive journalists, coming from 29 countries across all continents. At the World Car Awards, prizes are awarded in multiple categories.
The most prestigious award is the ‘2024 World Car of the Year’, the main prize for the best car overall. In addition, the best models are chosen in the categories Electric Vehicle, Luxury Car, Performance Car, and Urban Car. Finally, all nominated models in all categories are eligible for the ‘World Car Design of the Year Award’.
BYD SEAL makes a strong impression
With two finalist positions at the World Car Awards, BYD once again proves that it is gaining more international recognition and that its models are highly competitive in their segment. Starting with the BYD SEAL, one of the ten contenders for the prestigious title of 2024 World Car of the Year! The all-electric, technologically advanced, and attractively designed sports sedan was chosen as a finalist from an initial list of 38 contenders.
The BYD SEAL competes in the final against the latest generations of the Ford Bronco, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia EV9, Mazda CX-90, Subaru Crosstrek, Toyota Prius, Volkswagen ID.7, and Volvo EX30.
World Urban Car
The BYD DOLPHIN evenly impresses the international jury of the World Car Awards. The all-electric, comfortable and spacious five-door hatchback is a finalist in the category ‘2024 World Urban Car’. This category is reserved for models with a length of up to 4.25 meters, a segment that is crucial worldwide and especially in Europe. The highly competitive BYD DOLPHIN competes against the Abarth 500e, Lexus LBX, Volvo EX30, and Suzuki Fronx. The latter is not known in Europe, but the global character of the World Car Awards makes the competition particularly valuable.
Winners in all six categories will be announced on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, during a live awards ceremony at the New York International Auto Show. This year marks the 19th year of the World Car Awards partnership with the show.
